Before you begin
Close Discord completely, save any unsent work, and download the installer only from the official Moonlight GitHub release. Keeping the installer lets you update, unpatch, or troubleshoot later.
Download the installer
Use the official Windows release link. The expected file name is moonlight-installer.exe. If a browser renames or blocks the file, verify that the destination is GitHub before continuing.
Patch your Discord installation
Open the installer, allow it to detect your Discord installation, download the stable Moonlight build, and choose the patch action. Start Discord only after the patch completes.
Keep recovery simple
If Discord updates and Moonlight stops loading, reopen the installer and update or unpatch first. Avoid mixing multiple client mods during troubleshooting because overlapping patches make diagnosis harder.
